PRODUCING ROADSTERS
The Woodchuck Roadster is 5 1/2 inches long, 2 1/8 inches wide and 3 inches high. The base is cut from l X 8 pine that is trimmed and then ripped into three pieces 2 1/2 inches wide. These pieces are then cut into 5 1/2 inch lengths.
The hood and trunk are cut from 2 x 8 pine that is trimmed on one side and then ripped into three pieces 2 1/2 inches wide. A template, approximately every 4 inches, is used to mark the hood and trunk. Using a miter saw, a 51 degree angle is cut to separate the hood from the trunk.
What will become the inside of the hood and trunk is sanded before gluing both parts to the base. The toy is then sanded on all sides to eliminate splinters and smooth the surface. The final task is to accurately drill holes for the 1/2 inch wheels that are attached to the base.
